FLORES CITY

Our planet has millions of beautiful places, and many people enjoy being in these places which most of them were made by Mother Nature and there is not beauty compare to it. Traveling is how we get to know and enjoy that beauty but in my case I would say that I was born in one of those amazing places where life is really enjoyable and for that reason I will describe my favorite place which is the city where I belong to.

This place is located in the northern part of Guatemala, which has a big Mayan biosphere around it with all kinds of flora and fauna. My city is a small island in the middle of the Lake Petén Itza and it is called Flores City, it is surrounded by fresh water all over and the combination of that water with air makes a really nice breeze that makes air so rich for the bodies of people living in this area. Years ago you were able to see coconut trees and palms around the island but now days there are just a few but enough to give this place a nice view and in fact being name a cultural patrimony of Guatemalan society.

Life is very relax in here, there exist hundreds of places where you can go to breath fresh air and enjoy Mother Nature, places like a zoo in a peninsula which you will have to take a boat from my city, caves, beaches, walks in forests, do canopying, visit different Mayan cities, and do all kind of activities in the jungle. It is just a place that you have to visit if you travel to Guatemala.

Flores City is not my favorite place only because I was born there or my family and friends are there but it is just a pleasant place to see people interacting, meet people from different parts of the world, listen to all kind of languages, feel that friendship and good treat of people who has lived there for there entire life and get to know how they live, their costumes and traditions which are somehow different form other places in Central America and even in Guatemala.

The cuisine in this place has a lot of old dishes that used to be enjoy by the Mayans and still being preserve by elders´ brain and hands, over here you can try food made just by ingredients taken from the jungle and some new dished being adapt by combinations of new spices and old traditional recipes.
For the reasons mention above and many others, Flores City is in fact my favorite place, and if you doubt about it ask your friends who had visited this wonderful city or people that you may know who live here and still live a great quality of life in a small island which is not located in the South Pacific but has certain things in common. Come and visit Guatemala, soul of the earth.
